These fascinating creatures have been known to take over entire neighborhoods, but they can also be great neighbors if you know how to interact with them. Let’s take a closer look at the iguanas of South Florida.

What Do Iguanas Look Like?

Iguanas are large lizards, usually between four and six feet long. They can come in a variety of colors, from bright green to grey or brown. Their bodies are covered in scales and their tails are long and thin. You’ll often see them sunning themselves on rocks or tree limbs, though they can also be quite adept climbers.

What Do Iguanas Eat?

Iguanas are primarily herbivores, meaning they eat mostly plants and vegetation. In their natural habitat they would feed on leaves, flowers, fruits, and insects.

South Florida is home to many unique wildlife species—iguanas being just one of them! If you plan on moving down south anytime soon it’s important that you familiarize yourself with these animals so that you know how best to interact with them should you ever cross paths. By understanding what iguanas look like and what they eat you will be better prepared for living alongside these fascinating creatures!
